The sensor ITH Type MC5 is a sensor which measures the earths magnetic field for heading information.
To keep deviations, caused by the ships magnetic fields, to a minimum, the sensor must be mounted 1,5 to 2 meter away from steel, preferably in the ships centerline between bow and stern.
To mount the sensor, a special mountingbracket is needed.
This sensor has a special compensation coil to compensate the vertical magnetic field of the ship, which causes temporally deviation during the roll and pitch of the ship.
Standard delivery of this sensor is without a sensor connection cable of 10m, 15m or 20m which must be ordered separately.
The cable is a special manufactured cable with screen around all 6 wires. If a more length is needed this cable must be used.
This sensor is applied with the repeaters ITH Type 6S and ITH Type 11A-S.

The sensor ITH Type MC5 replaces the sensor ITH Type MC3 and operates the same way. Defect sensors of type MC3 can be exchanged with sensors type MC5 without any (electronic) problem.
